Muck Harbour
Muck offers two safe anchorages:
Gallanach to the north 56° 50.5’ North 06° 15.5’ West
To enter the bay line up the green Dutch barn adjacent to the white farm buildings with the dry stone wall leading up to the cliffs on the other side of the island. The holding is good with a sand bottom.
Port Mor to the south 56° 49.6’ North 06° 13.0’ West
Port Mor is much easier to navigate with a clearly buoyed channel perches at the entrance and a Sectored Light. The holding in Port is also good with a sandy bottom. Port Mor is an enjoyable 20 min walk from Gallanach.
Moorings aren't available but MOWI have a pontoon in Port Mor which visitors can use at their own risk (suggested donation is £5 with all donations going to Muck Primary School). It has limited depth but provides a useful alternative to anchoring in this cosy bay for modest size yachts.
SERVICES
At Port Mor there is The Tearoom providing refreshments during the season. During the summer months, the Tearoom is the centre of activity for both locals and visitors alike. The food is homemade and locally sourced (wherever possible) including freshly caught shellfish from around the island. Lunch offerings include soup, sandwiches, and light lunches made from freshly baked bread. They also offer a selection of home baked cakes and sweet treats. They usually run a pizza night on Wednesdays throughout summer - booking is advised. (If you run out of anything, they may be able to help you from their own larder).
The Community Hall is open 24/7 with public toilets, shower, washing machine, sports facilities, pool, foosball, library, heritage area and wi-fi. Donations for use.
You can order fresh shellfish (lobsters, brown crab & prawns of various sizes) from The Little Red Boat (orders@thelittleredboat.com t 01687 462136 m 07444 799 787).
The Green Shed, between the pier and The Tearoom, Port Mor (a small traditional corrugated building) is where local islanders sell handmade gifts and local produce. It works on an honesty box basis. There is also a defibrillator stored here.
All rubbish on the island has to be transported to the mainland. Please help us by minimising your rubbish and taking it with you where possible. There are skips available at the harbour - glass recycling, plastic/cans/tins recycling and residual waste skips. Please ensure you place your rubbish inside the skip and not on top (the top is completely closed).
Visitors are warmly welcomed to the island and invited to take part in any event that happens to be going on at the time of their visit.
